Okay, that statement might seem a little ambitious, but it does hold some truth.
Here’s the proof: according to Credit Suisse’s 2014 Global Wealth Report, Australians are now the richest people in the world, and a large part of that is thanks to our love of property.
The Australian Tax Office’s (ATO) taxation statistics for the 2010/11 financial year showed that over the year there were 1,811,174 individuals who owned an investment property.
It’s hard to imagine that each one of those individuals (even more so for those who own more than one) have the time to personally manage their property on top of their work, home-life and leisure commitments.
That’s where we, the property managers come in.
We take the stress out of owning and managing a property, which enables you to focus on what’s important to you. For some that means focussing their time on growing their property portfolio – can you see where we’re going with this?
Without property managers helping Australian investors manage and maintain their greatest asset, the real estate market would practically come to a standstill (we said some truth).
While we are a small sector of 64,698 among business brokers, principals, real estate agents and representatives, we contributed 2.3 per cent ($32.2b) to the Australian economy in 2011-12, according to the Australian Workforce and Productivity Agency.
A good investment, if you ask us.
Despite reports of the market overheating, there’s no sign of us slowing down. According to the Labour Market Information Portal, the projected employment of our industry in Darwin is expected to increase by 14 per cent by November 2018.
All jokes aside, we do believe property management is an integral part of the property investment process, and not just for seasoned property investors, but for mum-and-dad investors too.
